I was all set to lie about my age and re-enlist. Then I read that she had served a 4 year enlistment and was discharged.

I can assure you she is not the average female Marine. One in a million might be a more accurate mathematical estimation. I love how poorly these stories are written, from the article:

"Ihrke is indeed a Marine veteran who endured boot camp at Parris Island, S.S., just like any other leatherneck. Specializing in legal administration and accounting, she rose to the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged at the end of her four-year stint. A stint that included a tour in Afghanistan".

She went through recruit training for women. That is not like "any other leatherneck". Parris Island is not in SS, it is in SC.

So she was essentially an admin POG that was sent to Afghanistan to get a campaign medal, and likely a promotion. I am sure she had plenty of eyes on her career and other things.
