Interesting article. I do agree however you do have to give respect in order to earn it I believe that goes both ways. You cant treat your Marines like crap they are human beings and expect them to respect you. I believe in having to earn the respect and confidence of your Marines. There is such thing as respecting someone for their rank and not because of their leadership. In the civilian world I took a class called "Improving employee performance" it talked about how we are quick to point out the flaws and the things wrong but we slack when it comes to praise. Be a leader not a boss.
