When you live your life to be "offended" you'll always find something to offend you. If you're offended just because someone challenges your opinion, maybe your opinion is the problem. If you can support your opinion, there's no reason to be offended when someone challenges it. Maybe it's just easier to attack the person and make their opinion evil or illegal? If it's illegal you can jail them for their opinions. Takes less effort than defending your opinion.
We look back at history and say "how did the people let this happen?" while it's happening again, all around us, right now. Someone sent me a screen shot from Twitter where someone posted "Elon Musk doesn't want "free speech" he wants to let people say whatever they want, and that's not the same thing". The other screen shot he sent was from Max Boot saying "we don't need less oversight of speech, we need more, to ensure our democracy", basically we need more censorship for the sake of democracy.
I find it extremely disturbing there are people who think this way and people who agree with them.
The difference between stupidity and genius is genius has its limits.
