It is said the training and physical demands of the 101st was so arduous that only the toughest soldiers would become Screaming Eagles. Bastogne would prove that theory correct.

My Dad landed in Normandy D'Day plus 3, he was a half track commander (Cpl) he never wanted to talk about it, except to say 101st was the toughest guys he met and was proud to serve. I had the honor and privilege to serve in the 101st 1985 to 1987.

SPC Robert Coventry - I read about how they trained hard and pushed each other to their physical limits. Those who could not cut it were weeded out. The other facet is they shared stories and pictures of their families which further cemented their bond and love for each other.
