It's crazy how time changes places so affected by war. I've visited and studied WWI battlefields, and noted how some things you can still see or find pretty distinctly if you know what you're looking for and where to find it, while the rest just slowly melts away with time. It's always surprising to see how countryside so scarred by wars the scale of WWI and WWII can hide those scars so well.
