I noticed there seemed to be carrying South Vietnamese flags also. Whats up with that?

This is a good article that appears to have only a hint of bias. It makes a good point that many of these symbolic flags have a meaning to the individual rather than expressly representing a common message. There is some perversion with many of these historic American symbols. For example, the Come and Take It flag from the Battle of Gonzales during the war for Texas’ Independence has also been used to represent many different viewpoints that are not necessarily similar to its original purpose.
