The vessel named after a World War II Coast Guard hero from Long Island will commission in New York City on April 21st. It is a 154 foot, Sentinel Class "Fast Response" cutter manufactured by the Bollinger Shipyards in Louisiana, the 47th in the class of a planned 64 that will be delivered to the USCG.
The cutter is named for Bronze Star recipient Boatswain's Mate 1st Class Clarence Sutphin Jr a native of Valley Stream, Long Island.
