Yes and again it depends on your chosen career field and if your getting a college degree or not. I remember when I was in back in the 1980's a guy ETS'ing with me thought he was going to support a wife and a kid on a Manufacturing Junior Supervisors Salary in TN of all places with no college degree. I told him he should be ready to sell his new truck and buy a used one to eliminate the payment and be ready to live in a dumpy apartment or mobile home. The high expectations are nothing new.
