Your uniform wish list: 8 changes soldiers want now

I have had so many uniform changes inflicted on me over a 22+ year career. While the ASU is classic in that it has a root in our history, I think the opportunity was missed. We want Soldiers and civilians to look at the Army and have a certain identify about our history, success, and what we are about. We went with the uniform that most closely resembles the ones we wore while we fought each other (Civil War) or the Native Americans (Indian Wars) and our survival, barely hanging on to our country. We missed the opportunity to pick the uniform we wore when the US saved the rest of the world from tyranny (WW II) with the pinks And greens. It would have been distinctive, non-corporate, and reminded everyone what we do. From a practical stand point the ASU didn't really save us any money. The pants had to change. We fielded new shirts. The jacket changed fabric. The pinks and greens are classic, we could have worn it with or without the berets. The pants were a different shade than the jacket so we did not get ourselves back into that challenge between pants/jacket like the old greens. Khaki shirts would look lightbyears better than the white or the mint green. The black accessories would not have looked as bad. We could ditch shoulder boards in favor of pin on rank on collars. Could have gone with or without color unit patches sewn on jackets. Could have kept black low quarters or gone with brown shoes like the old school ones (that the Navy still has)

this is such a spoiled Generation ... But they may or may Not have a good Idea... and have they looked at all the Changes from the past that Did Not work... some of Us remember some of the Changes ... and they did not work out too so good...

So far I'm on my 3rd different version of the PT uniform, 2nd version of dress uniform, and 3rd version of a daily utility uniform (ACU, BDU, etc). I probably have 10 or so years left in the Army. I wonder how many more changes I will see in that time. I bet I see at least one change in each over that time. It seems like as soon as everyone finally gets a new uniform it changes again. I know seeing formations full of mismatched uniforms during the transitionary phase drives senior NCOs up the wall.
