Happened upon Rick Beato's dissecting of a song, yesterday, then listened to a few more. Never heard of him. Rather than reinvent the wheel, here is an article about him. As the title says he is a YouTuber, but he also has credentials.
His dissecting might not appeal to everyone, but it provides a lot of insight into the extent of the talent of some of the composers, songwriters, singers, writers, arrangers - ways in which he considers them to be exemplary. You don't have to know music to recognize good music. Whether you do or not maybe his dissecting will bring added dimensions to songs you love.
In Beato's opinion "Never Gonna Let You Go" is the most complex pop song of all time - "a popular song from 1983 credited to Brazilian musician and bandleader Sérgio Mendes and sung by Joe Pizzulo and Leeza Miller. Songwriters Cynthia Weil (lyrics) and Barry Mann (music) composed the song, which appears on Mendes' 1983 self-titled album."
