My son has a PT score of 250 and has a GT score of 139. Is this normal for a Scout unit? What can he expect?

Son just finished basic/Airborne School (11B). He arrived at Bragg and got assigned to 2nd Brigade 2/325 AIR. Once there they assigned him to the HHC Scout Platoon. I thought that was only possible with tryouts. His PT is 250 and has a GT score of 139. Is this normal and what can he expect in Scouts?

We had tryouts for the sniper/scouts. Folks with good brains would be given a shot at scouts, with the idea that we could always move them to a line company if they didn't hack it.

Scouts (19D) are a shortage MOS across the board. The Army has authorized 11Bs to fill 19D slots until they can get their 19D numbers back up. 250 for an 11B is average...139 GT score is awesome for any Soldier in any branch.
