I've worked with plenty of 88Ms in an SFG. One of my best friends was an 88M in 1-1 Okinawa with me.
,First, don't believe the hype that someone tells you when they say they can pull you over. SF does not have requisition authority. It's a normal Airborne assignment as far as HRC is concerned, and in a large MOS like 88M you'll need to be Airborne. You don't get to choose your follow on assignment after Airborne training, but you can later on down the road.

As for the day to day mission, it's the mission of an 88M plus whatever is needed. One of the things about working in an SFG or a GSB, is that you are needed for your conventional Army knowledge and experience, but because all the work falls on the support guys, you're also doing two or three additional side jobs. You could expect to find yourself the UPL, plus the UVA, teaching Jumpmaster, Master Driver, UMO, Air NCO, S3 Air, DZSO, and any other number of additional duties required of the unit. It is an unconventional job that requires a lot of work and can have a high optempo.

Give it a shot for a few years. Then move to a different assignment. Then move back as a Senior NCO. Then take a senior leadership position wherever you can. Take a broadening assignment somewhere in there. Absolutely do not try to hide out in SFG for too long or you will stagnate.

If you want a real challenge where you'll be treated as an actual equal and not as a lesser life form by the Green Berets in SFG, you should give 75th Ranger Regiment a try. The difference is that everyone who passes RASP is a Ranger and earns their tan beret. Everyone who gets assigned to SFG is Support....RASP is also a lot harder than SFAS, so there is that as well.
