Example of Branch Detail Letter of Recommendation (LoR)?

I am looking for a branch detail letter of recommendation example. I am currently Armor branch and my detail ends within a little over a year, I am requesting an exception to remain Armor but require a letter of recommendation from a LTC or above. My current SCO agree'd to help me but wants me to write up a first draft. Does anyone have a letter of recommendation example that was successful? If not, does anyone know what Armor branch is looking for the letter to address about an applicant? DA Pam 600-3 qualities?

My Troop Commander is also involved in assisting, and wants to make sure we pinpoint what Branch is looking for rather than penning a generic LoR addressing potential and performance.

I'll answer this one up front too: Yes, I have contacted the Branch Manager for assistance.

A little insight would be helpful before I put the first draft before the Old man.
