I went through 31b training in the OSUT (one stop unit training) program. AIT was 10 weeks.

I know your are reservist, but are you freaking high? You are in training for your damn MOS, fail it and you will be a grunt in a leg unit in Limbo! Blast it is NOT a 9-5 job, that you can leave at 5pm for the bar or home!

SFC (Join to see) I can agree on that... however, even after you retire, I would still refer to you as SFC. To me that rank has been earned by hard work, dedication and results. I guess that's the old guy in me...lol

SSG (Join to see) - When I retire - I'm not calling anyone by their rank and no one needs to call me by my rank. Once I get that DD214 - the Army is in the rearview. And if anyone calls me SFC when I retire in a few years, I would definitely not respond. I also definitely have no care for some of the people on here who are retired even whatever rank they had when they retired. Rank is just a title...and some people definitely just don't deserve respect on here. Also - Bill was the one with the bit of attitude, not the PFC.

SFC (Join to see) - Fair enough, and I would think that if you ask someone not to refer to you by your rank, after retirement, they should honor that. I guess it comes down to the individual. I can certainly see your point of view. I know outside of drill, I tell my guys to just call me Wagner. I also agree about some people not deserving respect on RP... I know I have tested the waters a few times and been an ass once or twice ... LOL

You don't like my answer kid, you don't have to take., But you asked a question in this open forum and I answered. No it was not PC because I am not PC, I am a retired Abn Grunt in units that didn't allow many whinners, nor slackers cause we couldn't afford to lug them around. Just look at your question and see what it sounds like to a career soldier. I'm going to AIT to learn a new job, and my home is 30 minutes away. Can I go home at night, please? I had never heard of such BS in my entire career!. You fail the course and you are dead in the water, no (P) no high-speed job, etc. A good way to fail is not being on time, in formation, etc., And they do not have to give you ANY 2nd chances. Bet you damn well, that if they were home was just outside the gate, they wouldn't let them go home.
