Both my National Guard and USAR recruiters don't know whether its just because there aren't any openings or whether you can still directly enlist for 35L.

Note: the Army website says it is entry level.

Whereas the Army Reserve website indicates it is not entry level.

The National Guard has no indication of whether it is or isn't entry level.

Ideally I would want to enlist directly in 35L in the National Guard/Reserve rather than going 35N for 3 years or having to go to DLI for 35M, only to be told there is no point in reclassing if I already have experience in my original MOS.

Edit: I have also heard seen a lot of mixed information for eligibility when it was not entry level. Some claimed you had to be E5, while others claimed you could apply at E4 but once you graduate 35L AIT you are promoted to E5.

The later, if there is any truth to it, is somewhat appealing as I will be enlisting with a college degree and will enter at E4. Would that mean that straight out of another MOS AIT I could begin reclassing? That sounds to good to be true.

The NG has not converted any MTOE slots to accept entry level 35L. At least in my state. So we do not get CI straight out of basic/AIT. Yes you can apply as an E4 but must be “eligible” for promotion to E5. Also you cannot be a full fledged Agent till your 21 as you can’t be issued creds till you are.
