Can i get back into the service?

I was medically discharged in 2018, honorable. I had two surgeries on the same shoulder within the same year. I have medical records stating it is not permanent and i have a reentry code of 3. Also in 2016 i had a suicide attempt due to family members. I was released the same night with no restrictions or statements saying unfit. I have no medical records of it besides the the night i went to the ER and released saying i have no restrictions. I continued my military career and finished it off in 2018. Am i able to still go back in or get a wavier?? SGM Matthew Quick

Just because the suicide attempt wasnt related to your prior service doesn't mean it "doesn't count" to get back in. You'll have to bring it up before you reenter, and you're not getting back in with a suicide attempt.

SPC Anthony Samuelu you most definitely need to address that at the MEPS

SPC Anthony Samuelu Even with that, it's not going to help much. A suicide attempt, no matter the agree of the attempt, all but seals the deal that you'll never get back in.

Maybe. The only one that will be able to say for sure is a recruiter. That RE 3 is going to be a nut all in itself as you will need like waivers depending on what was put. MEPS is going to have to clear you and that may be another nut altogether.

Start with talking to a recruiter. No one here can tell you yes or no with any real degree. They can give advice and that is about it. Hope for the best, prepare for the worse.

IF that suicide attempt is in any way documented, anywhere you are most likely not getting back in. If you were unders a psychiatricsts care then most likely you are not getting back in.

My guess is there is a certain amount of time in between your discharge and when you can reenlist. You most likely will have to have paperwork from a psychologist stating you are in good mental order. Also they will want to know that your shoulder is in good working order and will also want a document from an orthopedic Dr. stating so. The best thing I can suggest is go to your local recruiter and ask them if you can reenlist.

Okay i know the shoulder part I already have a letter stating its in good health and i have no restrictions for that. The psychologist part, even if i was good to continue my army career after that incident with no consequence?

Plus i got discharged for my shoulder only. The suicide had nothing to do with me getting out
