Headed to AIT at Huachuca in May for 35M. It is TDY enroute to DLI. I have seen conflicting information on the housing situation for MOS Transfers. As a single Staff Sergeant will I be required to stay in a barracks or will I be given the option to get an apartment? I am in USAREC currently so not much in the way of PCS support in comparison to that received at a base so just trying to hash out all the details in advance of the move. Thank you for any and all assistance!

It totally depends on utilization. My first reclass to Huachuca, I was a SGT, had an apartment off post with no vehicle (I asked for barracks space and was denied). My second trip I was SSG(P) (Picked up SFC while at school), and stayed in the barracks (This time I had a car and asked for a spot off post).

First time was prior to opening Prosser Village. Now that Prosser is open, most likely will be in the barracks (assuming the "8 mile" section hasn't been condemned, yet).

I couldn't tell you personally, there were not any E6+ in the schoolhouse while I was there, but here is the page with the housing contact information for the 309th.
