I never had the pleasure of meeting him but recall that he was from Royal Oak, Michigan and was considered the most intelligent man in the Army according to a magazine article I read in the early 1970's. There was talk of him running for POTUS in the late 70's but he had no political ambitions rather preferring to work in the financial industry where he excelled and enjoyed a long and successful career.
