Went walking this morning on the James River access below Linden Lure dam. Got in using 2 wheel drive all the way because it has been so dry. The flat areas of rock you can see near and in the water are the ancient seabed from the Pennsylvanian Period, 290 million years ago. That’s some old rock.

Got fed up looking at the trash here and there and picked up the pile in the picture within 200 meters of where we parked. Picking that up is actually pretty good exercise for a 67-year-old, what with all the walking, reaching, and bending.

Plus, been a while since I conducted a police call. Found myself admonishing me out loud, "If you don't paint it, mow it, or salute it, move it!" We'll be back out there with another trash bag one of these days. Conan doesn't actually pick up trash, it's that lack of thumbs thing, but he's with me in spirit.
