Lt Col Charlie Brown Many of those who returned were devastated by it and the rejection they experienced.Thank goodness are returning military is welcomed today, instead of shunned.

In my actual experience, and based on my clinical interviews, the post 911 combatants are invisible. None of us can compete w/ the greatest generation.

SSgt Richard Kensinger - Really? I only have my sons as examples -one Army, one Marine---they don't seem to have the problems with VA support that was delinquent when i first returned home in the 70's.I know there is still a lot that could be better.

In total 66,000 women served during Vietnam. In all wars, soldiers are quite young. during WW TWO a # of soldiers faked their ages to enlist. I am unsure of how many during Vietnam did so?
And Vietnam is the most despised, detested, and protested conflict ever.
God bless all who served. And we honor the memories of those who did not survive. I conduct free clinical consultation and combat trauma research in their honor.

SSgt Terry P. Yep, he re-enlisted in Germany for Vietnam. Overly experienced with aggressor tactics and blank rounds used in Europe.

Shortly after his death, the Army instituted an In-Country adaption/training program for newbies from Europe and other cherries. They were especially vulnerable due to their prior service elsewhere.

CSM Charles Hayden - My deepest condolences on the loss of your brother.
I know it had been a long time, but having lost one of my brothers many years ago,it does not just go away.

CSM Charles Hayden - The marines had a "staging Battalion" for Vietnam and a course on booby traps before i went and it prepared us as much as possible for combat, but the reality is always a different matter.
