...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...
The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of Arkansas and Oklahoma...
including the following counties...in Arkansas...Crawford...
Sebastian and Washington AR. in Oklahoma...Adair...Cherokee...
Haskell...Latimer...Le Flore...McIntosh...Muskogee...
Pittsburg...Pushmataha and Sequoyah.
* Through Saturday morning
* A swath of heavy rain has fallen across southeast and east
central Oklahoma, and into northwest Arkansas over the past 24
hours. Some places, such as McAlester, have picked up over 6
inches of rain. A band of rain is expected to set up over the
region tonight in association with an upper level low pressure.
With soils saturated, a band of rain setting up over the harder
hit areas could cause flash flooding. The rains should begin to
lift northeast and weaken by Saturday morning.
* Main-stem river flooding is expected to occur in the watch area
as well. This flooding will likely linger for a few days after
the rains have ended.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A flash flood watch means rapidly rising water or flooding is
possible within the watch area.
