CMDCM John F. "Doc" Bradshaw - I joined the Navy in Dec 1966 and retired in Mar 1990, 23+ years of service... I accumulated 14 years of sea duty in the 23 years that I served, I am a Vietnam Vet, I made CPO while I was stationed onboard USS Enterprise CVN-65 in 1979.... and I survived it even though it was one heck of an initiation... one I will never forget....! In 1983 I was selected for Chief Warrant Officer and even though I was a commissioned officer, I was always welcomed in the Chiefs Mess... And they always had the best chow and the best double-deck pinochle games too! I am also very proud to have earned a Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) pin while on board USS Bainbridge CGN-25... And, I stood just under 4 years of OOD U/W as a result of that qual... I loved having the Deck on a her...! By the way, my Father-in-Law was a Navy doctor (LT) in WWII, and he requested to be assigned to the Marines. It was approved immediately, and he served very proudly the entire war with the 1st Marine division in the Pacific (The big red "1" with Guadalcanal in the number) . Was on the beach with the Marines from Peleliu to Okinawa and all the islands between. He never wore a Navy uniform... always wore a Marine uniform, with Navy Insignias & Devices (I have his Campaign hat along with many of his belongings gathered from WWII. He told me Peleliu was the worst of the islands, but he said in Okinawa he had thousands of Casualties on the beach. He survived the war and had his own Medical practice in New Jersey. He died 3 months before I retired. Once again I want to thank you for your endorsement... it means a lot to me!
