Hey, I know this post is on the older side and I am probably not going to get a response but how did you manage to get the reclass? It is something that I am interested in but I don't know if I can.

8 months late to this but, I managed to pick up a class slot back in November of 23'. You have to stay on top of your Ret. NCO almost everyday, the slots are super on and off.

You’ll be working on all the standard weapons we use, conducting weapons services. (Gaging, weapons pre-set/reset). There are opportunities to get into the SOF-NAC (Foreign & Non-Standard Weapons Course) & SOF-P (Peculiar Weapons) should you be placed in a SpecOps unit.

As a 91F, you can expect to be in Support Battalions a lot but there are opportunities in FSCs for Infantry & Artillery units, not to mention SF Groups granted you’re Airborne. Hopefully, you’re assigned to a unit that has a functioning Armament Shop because it’ll help you in the long run understanding how to run an armament shop, open/close work orders (even more so now with GCSS-Army). My first two units as a PVT-SPC I was in units who’s armament shop were not functional, meaning no NCOs, taskings for details &/or evac’ing work. If you’re looking to deploy within this MOS don’t put your heart on it because it’s least likely to happen, not saying it won’t. Contrary to popular misconceptions, there is no regulation that says 91Fs cannot be a unit armorer. So, leaders have a tendency to place 91Fs in that position. It’s just frowned upon and takes away from that Soldier so don’t be surprised if you have to fulfill that position.
Right now the Army/HRC is going into the “ASK-EM” Assignment Satisfaction Key-Enlisted Marketplace” and once you become a SGT(P) -MSG, you’ll have an opportunity to use it. Try to get as much operationing/generating assignments your first couple of years as it will help later in your career. Definitely take a look at your career map too. As a 91F, we are going to always be up against the other 91 series guys as we get promoted for positions, so try to set your self apart with what you can; Airborne, Air Assault, additional weapons courses, Ranger, etc.

Best of luck to you in your career & moving forward CPL & feel free to message me with any questions. -SSG B.

Honestly CPL you can go anywhere with this MOS. You’ll do a lot of PMCS and gaging. The course is easy too it’s hands on and written.
