With the help of God, my family, and friends, I can proudly say that I completed Basic Combat Training and am now an American Soldier. This wasn’t an easy experience considering I have a 9 year old son, I had a stable job that paid me more than what I’m earning now, and I had an active role at my local church. I had a level of stability and to leave it all to pursue a desire that God put in my heart about about 10 years ago, was no easy task. I was challenged physically, mentally, and spiritually. Some days I wanted to quit. Some days I felt like I would go crazy due to the isolation from family. But when the Drill Sergeant gave me my Army Patch I cried. I’ve never felt so proud in my life. I’m so proud to be an American Soldier and to serve the people of the United States. I swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States so help me God. I have faith that God guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
