Help Wanted!
Currently a SPC that just crossed their 2 year mark on a 5 year contract. I’ve been interested in Reclassifying into MOS 27D for quite some time now. (Once I realized the MP Corps is not for me) I’ve reached out to Retention NCO’s, but they can only help so many people at once.
Has anyone gone through the reclassification process personally? Current IN/OUT Calls list 31B as overstrength and 27D as balanced.
Any 27D’s in the audience? Please provide some insight on what exactly you do on a daily. I’d like to know the bread and butter before I make a decision I will regret. Worse come to worse I’ll just ride the MP wave and get out. Please don’t let it come to that!
Any Leaders that either have or are currently assisting a junior soldier through the reclassification process?

Are you active duty or Guard / Army Reserves ? Did you receive a bonus ? I never heard of a 5 year contract.

Active Duty. No enlistment bonus. First contract. 5 years seems to be the standard for a first term AD MP

SGT (Join to see) The fact you didn’t get a bonus is good because if you did you would be completely stuck. Most units usually want you to stay until the last two years of your first contract. I am a 31B so that’s the only thing I can speak on. However I would push it up to your chain of command. Let’s be honest the army is holding all the major cards since you are no where near your ETS date. Good Luck.
