In a victory for free speech at public schools, Fort Riley Middle School officials have agreed to pay $95,000 in damages and attorneys’ fees for violating a math teacher’s First Amendment rights when they reprimanded and suspended her for addressing a student by the student’s legal and enrolled name and forced her to conceal the student’s social transition from the student’s parents.

I fully agree with what the teacher did Lt Col Charlie Brown , it is utter nonsense to use other than what the persons biological gender is.

Good for her. Parents should be able to trust the person they give their child to for the better part of everyday.

It's good to see a win for the parents. When it comes to the parents vs the government schools, too many give up and don't fight back. Hopefully the change will continue.

Sgt (Join to see) Most parents don't fight because they can't afford the legal fees. However, if they do and they win the school district has to pay both the lawsuit and the parents legal fees. Once this happened schools became much more receptive to listening to parents knowing it will cost them big if they lose.
