I’m a 12n active duty and I’m currently at ait. The other guys here say that if you’re single and don’t have airborn you’ll go overseas. How true is that?

Eh... it's all needs of the Army. When I was going thru AIT as a 21E (now 12N), all airborne folk went to Alaska. I tried signing up for airborne, but one of the cadre mishandled my packet, so I didn't go to Alaska. Instead, I got Fort Knox, KY. Three or so of us got that assignment. I forget where the others went. It all worked out in my favor.

Are you talking with any of the classes ahead of you? What kind of orders are they getting?

What year did you go through AIT? They had recently phased out of 21E and changed it to 12N when I went through, and had dropped crane operator as a course and made it its own specialty school. Bummed me out because I was looking forward to learning that. This was 2012 for me

It really boils down to where they need you. Even if your single and you sign up for airborne, you can end up in Italy. Doesn’t matter if you have airborne in your contract. Most of the active duty that went when I was in AIT picked the option to go to Hawaii or Korea. Pick your 3 options for a duty station. 12n has a lot of cool options to go. And just enjoy your time in a new place. Also why do you have your phone in AIT? You delta or alpha company?
