I have a soldier who has an injured back and has been struggling to lose weight. He’s been on ABCP for awhile now and will most likely trigger the chapter process next ht/wt. His provider put him on a deadman profile and pushed him to the side. He’s been advocating for himself and after 5 months, finally made it into the pain management clinic so he can hopefully fix his back and start getting after it. Also, possible binge eating disorder? He talks about his diet and I see his meal prepped lunches almost everyday, yet he continues to go backwards. I remember him mentioning something about it awhile back but it hasn’t come up since.

My question about 600-9. My unit has no MFT to run the ABCP. He was originally given 3 options to pursue weight loss. AWC guided plan, self guided, or off post guidance that had to be approved by the CO. I’ve read the reg and did not see anything mentioning “plans”. Is this a thing?

Second thing. Per MILPER Message 21-373, I’m seeing that he is to be taped 2 times, by 2 separate teams each ht/wt until he is in compliance. This has not been done.

Third thing. One of his monthly ht/wt was done 5 days early due to field training. At the time, he was slotted to be on rear d but sent to be on KP instead, further injuring himself and setting his recovery progress back further. Is 5 days too early?

What are his chances of getting the flag dropped and reinitiated so he can get a fresh start? I know he is capable. He was 2% away from being in compliance before his injury.
