I recently saw a post from someone about treating each other with respect.

I completely agree.

In today's society, respect is often in short supply. Social media and the internet have made it easier than ever to attack and demean others, and the anonymity of online interactions can make it difficult to hold people accountable for their actions. However, it is more important than ever to cultivate a culture of respect in our communities, workplaces, and homes.

There are too many that will demonize someone just because those individuals believe something other than what is 'correct' in another's mind.

If you're a Republican, then you must be racist/sexist/etc. and want to kill elderly/minorities/etc. If you're a Democrat, then you just want to kill police and tear down the United States. If you're neither then you're obviously amoral.

If you're white, you hate blacks and if you're black, you hate whites ... that is, unless you belong to 'correct' organization and believe the 'correct' stuff .. then you're good.

If you're religious then you're deluded and if you're atheistic then you lack a moral center.

If you believe in life in the womb, then you condone forced pregnancy and making women second class citizens. If you believe it's the mother's right to make a difficult choice, then you're just a murderer who only values life when it's politically convenient.

If you’re pro Second Amendment then you’re a lunatic and support mass shootings and if you’re pro gun-control then you only want criminals to have guns and want to tear up the Constitution.

Respect is a core aspect of human interaction and is essential for any society to function. It is the foundation upon which trust and understanding are built, and it is the glue that holds relationships together. It is important to recognize and value the inherent worth and dignity of every individual, and to treat others with kindness, consideration, and empathy.

Respect means treating others with kindness and consideration, regardless of their background, beliefs, or opinions. It means listening to others and valuing their opinions, even when they differ from our own. It means being considerate of others' feelings and needs and treating them with empathy and compassion.

Respect is also about self-respect. It is important to recognize our own worth and dignity and to treat ourselves with the same kindness, consideration, and empathy that we extend to others. Self-respect is the foundation upon which we build our relationships with others and the world around us. When we respect ourselves, we are more likely to be respected by others.

When we respect is shared we create a more harmonious and peaceful world, and don't we all deserve at least a little more of that?

We'll spoken Colonel! Thanks for the positive words we all need to live by.

I answered a post one time very politely and just spoke my beliefs...almost immediately I was personally attacked for the very reasons mentioned in your words...when I answered one back I told them I disagreed with their position and stated that's ok...sometimes we have to agree to disagree to move forward...I was reattaked and told that I was wrong and didn't have that luxury and that until I agreed it wouldn't end...I blocked and moved on. Thanks again for the reminder that we all have to live and coexist and that we might not all agree but we can and should be civil.

I saw it all the time with HS students who used social media to cyberbully others. And we as adults have not set a good example for them.

Hell. Elementary school students are bulling each other. As long as you can type and use a mouse and can write even a passable sentence you can cyberbully. If a 6 year old can shoot his teacher, a 6 year old can be a cyberbully. Not neassarly the same 6 year old but I venture to guess there are more examples of 6 year old cyberbullys than 6 year old gunmen.
