Has anyone discovered a love of pumping iron, or some other form of physical fitness training while in the military?

MCRD 1970, lifting was a small part of physical training. It mostly centered around body weight exercises and cardio (running). I started lifting in my mid 30’s, and I still lift 4 times a week at the age of 67.

I started lifting weights when I got to Ranger Regiment. Before I joined the Army I didn't even exercise. I remember trying to get in shape a little right before I left and I got winded running down the block.
When I came back in during the surge I discovered Kettlebells and Olympic lifts which I still love. I always have a kettlebell or two in my office for morning PT and Olympic lifting has remained at the center of my lifting for over a decade now.

I started on free weights while I was Active Reserve in the Guard. Got hooked. I have fell out of training on occasion because of different life issues, but I always come back to it and I am 65.
