I was broke and need a job. My father was career Air Force and I wanted to try the Infantry to see if I was as tough as I thought I was.

My son was working construction during the worst of the recent recession, which meant a lot of unemployed time. He asked me how I got through the last big one and I told him I joined the Army. He wasn't interested in the Army, but he is a Navy E6 now.
