Life as a 25S MOS-T ( Reclassified ) Here it is?
Just some info I hope people find with a quick Google search about reclassifying to 25S. I couldn't find out much good info when I reclassed here.
My story summed up in two sentences:
I am a 37F candidate that was a nonselect in psychological operations selection and assessment, and the Army reclassed me to the "needs of the Army". My reclass job was chosen for me, no choice, but to be a 25S.
However, despite my situation, this post is relevant to anyone reclassing to 25S, as it is the same process and situation as an MOS-T.
First off, it is a long ass AIT. It is a PCS move. 28+ weeks. If you're selected for 1C school, that's an additional 18 weeks. I moved here with my wife and live off post.
So, your life will be easy as it gets as an MOS-T. Think of it as college, but much more boring and with mandatory PT. Coming from training with the 1st Special Warfare Training Group, the PT is comparatively a joke. Signal guys, no offense, seem to be the least fit people I've met in the Army aside from cooks. So if you're worried, don't be.
This place is TRADOC, and the PT sometimes contains games. Yes, games. You read that correctly. That's some good training for these basic training guys to prep for big army, right?
So, anyways, when you arrive, you show up and sign in like your orders say, blablabla. Your inprocessing is awful. It is a series of long briefs that you've already heard at least 57 times, such as SHARP, EO, and then a bunch of rules for the IET kiddies that you'll be in class with. Everything is for them. You've already heard it, but...you have to sit through it all with them. Two full days of it. The only perk? You can rub it in the IET kids faces that you have a phone to play on during the briefs and nobody cares what you do.
After inprocessing, you're assigned to Alpha company if you're an MOS-T. The MOS-I, initial entry guys go to Bravo Co. All of Alpha is MOS-T guys, in several 25 series MOS's. The more senior MOS-T in each MOS is each platoon sergeant. Typically an E5, maybe an E6.
You're then assigned to a shift. There is day, evening, and midnight shifts. I was assigned to day shift ( I got lucky )
So, I am only in my first week. But so far, the course is set up like this. Phase 1 = first 15 weeks. In the 8th ish week, you'll be assigned to either tactical or strategic training for phase two after 15 weeks. I don't know where I'll be yet.
Your class is 5 days a week, unless there is a 4 day weekend. Day shift is 0830 to 1600, weekends off. Report to company before going home, so i'm off by 1700 every day. PT at 0530 every morning for an hour. FInish, go home, shower, eat, head to class.
Drill sergeants never bother you. They don't give the slightest shit what you do. Do not ever talk to IET kids. It is a breeze. Everybody is cool with MOS-T guys. Few rules, just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.
From what I hear from the guys in the barracks, no barracks inspections for MOS-T guys unless the place gets nasty. They get separate barracks, no roommates currently because they have low numbers going through.
So if you are reclassing to 25S, just know that it will be an absolute cake walk. Be smart and bring your family if you have one. I'm the only one in my group that did, and the rest regret not getting that TDY leave to bring them, especially if they are stuck here 8+ months. You're 100% authorized, make sure it is in your orders and you're set.
As far as how the training is, can't say. I'm in my first week. Just wanted to help people see a little of what to expect when they arrive. I had no idea and couldn't find info when I found out I was coming here.

So it's been a year or so, how is the MOS treating you? I'm looking to possibly reclass to this as well. Any helpful words of advice?

Best thing that could have happened. Make sure you're airborne qualified or it is pretty miserable, according to the people I trained with. I went airborne, now working in SOF. Best place to be.
If not airborne, you get awesome training and chances to earn certs that are worth a lot on the civilian side. Boring if not airborne, but beneficial.
Do it

Thank you so much! I was considering reclassing to 25s. I'm at college for EET and was going to reclass afterwards. How is it not that you've completed it? Any extended input?
