LTC Vindman retires, was he right or wrong? What about the second and third order effects?
Aside from the usually partisan (and superficial) comments regarding LTC (R) Vindman, is there a lesson to be learned here? We had a sitting US senator holding up promotion for 1000 senior officers to allow for his promotion. Whistleblowing. Polarizing politics and the politicalization of the military seems to be here for the duration. While the retired could easily just take pot shots from Ft. Living Room, here's my question. How can currently serving members truly remain apolitical? In a world where one callus post can end your career, use some judgment if you elect to weigh in. Was he right? Would you have done the same? Was he dead wrong?

Never like the politics. Didn't care if I hurt feelings. Did my job to the best of my abilities and expected the same from those around me. The part I hated the most was anything to deal with the Dirtbags from the UN. Main reason I ETSed.

He should be ashamed just as any officer who allows politics sway his choices. Unless given an illegal or immoral order we are to support our chain of command. That's what makes our military great. I served under 2 presidents that I detested but I followed my oath. He is reprehensible!

He's a damned traitor and I hope he stands before a firing squad with so many others.

He was 100% wrong, he failed the military by making comments about the president while doing what was his job. Even the other president said he was wrong. What did our country say, they both are lying. Based off a O5 lie. He is weak, a failed leader.

He had a duty to perform, if he could not carry his duty out then he bring his concerns to his superior or if he had any integrity, resign. It was not his job to decide what is or isn’t good policy, not carry it to the press.

It appears that if you are a Trump hater Vindman is a hero, If not, he is an AH. I am in the latter camp and think he shot off his mouth thinking he was going to be gloriously received for it. That didn’t happen and he ended up retiring quietly. As someone else said, he is hoping for a job with CNN or MSNBS. You would think he would be in the Ukraine helping his countrymen against Russia, but that would take the balls he is lacking.

Vindman should have been taken to an Article 32 hearing and court martialed for disobeying a lawful order
