Every single modern dictator started by taking the guns away from his country's citizenry.

I had to check to find out who the guy is, but I am not current with much outside the mainstream. The name made me think he might be foreign. It gets in my crawl that folks pass judgement on the USA when they have no skin in the game. I'm definitely not for gun control or taking away any rights under the Constitution. I do think we could get smarter about gun safety and screening, but that's as far as it goes with me. I'm guessing that this guy has a sort of cult following in some sector, but don't know what it would be. There are so many these days with alt everything. Thanks for sharing.

The Freedomain Radio internet community which he leads has frequently been described as a cult.

PO1 John Crafton - My position on gun control should be crystal clear and I did not say he was wrong. So I appreciate your input but you're preaching to the choir. I just said "It gets in my crawl that folks pass judgement on the USA when they have no skin in the game." which is a general statement and not an attack or disagreement with anything other than that. In regards to gun control I said "I'm definitely not for gun control or taking away any rights under the Constitution. I do think we could get smarter about gun safety and screening, but that's as far as it goes with me." My implied but unstated message is that if I want the advice of foreigners about how the USA should run, they should give a few years of their life in defense of it if they want me to respect what they have to say. Fairly basic and free speech.

Quite on target.
The RKBA should be much the same as the right to vote -- as broad as possible so that it checks the abuse of governmental power, and not so universal as to include the destructive elements of society.

CW3 Harvey K. You may want to change your statement to 'adjudicated destructive elements.'

SSG Robert Webster - Do you mean after "due process" as opposed to e.g. being placed on the "no-fly list" by an anonymous government bureaucrat, without even notice given to you that such an action was taken against you?

CW3 Harvey K. - No, I meant adjudicated as in proper judicial procedure; as in not an administrative action, but in a civil or criminal judicial procedure.

SSG Robert Webster - Sounds like "due process" to me. All constitutional rights of the accused respected, not a "star chamber" proceeding.
