How has the new ACFT changed the typical boot camp? Is there a different way of training?

Going to Fort Jackson in April for basic training. Has the new ACFT changed the way bootcamp typically is? Is there a different way of training? And how often should I expect to take the ACFT and which score ultimately counts?

The ACFT will be integrated for record beginning FY21. However, the ACFT is being conducted at IET locations right now. If your basic training battalion was designated to transition to the ACFT for record, you can expect to take the test at least 3 times.

To piggy back off of what the good SGT just said:
Only some IET locations are currently doing the ACFT. My buddy who just came back from Relaxing Jackson said they did the ACFT as a diag, but they still focused on the APFT, as is required. As for the school houses down the line - Several school houses are clinging to the APFT until the very last minute. You could potentially see the ACFT, but that is 100% dependent on unit funding.

The minimum standard will get you through, even less depending on where you go. We just had a group of soldiers come from Sill and soldiers were permitted to move forward without doing the leg tuck, I imagine that is not all cases though and that it won't last like that long. Other than the change in the PT test, it's Basic Training. Everyone has different experiences and the only thing this is gonna change is that they might add more climbing drills to PT.

If an individual fails an event, they fail the test. If the unit was allowing individuals to proceed even when failing an event, then that is reportable.

SSG (Join to see) - unfortunately basic training has a way of making things seem okay to trainees who still have yet to see how the military works. This is only what I heard in passing and personally did not attend a basic training with this sort of flexibility. However, things like this happen all the time unfortunately.
