Good Red Friday afternoon, Rallypoint, and welcome to the July 8th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Roots on a Rotating Planet." This (to me) is one of the more interesting star trail photos that has found its way to APOD. It is a composite image; 137 separate exposures, each 20 seconds long. So at 3 exposures per minute, the initial camera work took about 45 minutes or so. I didn't see any processing notes on the astrophotographer's web site. Regardless, both the eye and the hand of the artist are present in the results. Marcella Giulia Pacé is a regular APOD contributor from Sicily.
