Abandoned and entrusted to a Kentucky orphanage in the late 1950s, a 9-yr old orphan who doesn’t communicate much starts playing chess with a janitor in the basement and finds herself enthralled with the game. She battles through a very early addiction to pills (at the orphanage), booze and the loss of her adoptive mother to become a world champion in the male-dominated world of chess.
(PG 13ish).

This series focuses a lot on Chess moves and plays in a fascinating and dramatic way.
