I ponder it all the time...problem is that the left wants to teach revisionist history not all of history. They want to rewrite history by removing statues (good and bad) that remind us of where we came from and how painful it was to get past that. They want to remove the brutality of war from Civil War/WW1/WW2/Korea/Vietnam and now Desert Storm and Desert shield. Those wars and why they were fought aren't studied anymore. We don't teach Civil War and how brutal it was or why it was fought...yes slavery main cause but other factors. We don't teach the brutality of Hitler and the Holocaust hence why we have so much anti semite atmosphere in our country now. If you asked High School kids today about any of those I bet you would get the glassed over look as they are googling it on their phones. My thing is if we teach history then teach it all...don't pick and choose what fits an agenda...teach it all in it's glory or its horror so people remember how truly bad it was or how truly remarkable we were.

There's your problem, you immediately label it revisionist, and here in Florida its not the left pushing it. History is history and should be taught as it occurred, you and I seem to agree on that. History should not be filtered to meet someone's agenda, period.

Doesn't say much for those who simply remove it and rename institutions, facilities, cities, bases, etc...

Renaming is a part of history and happens all the time. Ever hear of Constantinople? You have? Well then history is intact. Besides, most of those statues were erected long after the historical events they depict and the people they venerate. Removing them or moving them to a museum does not hurt a thing... except snowflake feelings.
