I recently re-read this essay and, while I take no position on whether it correctly defines "fascism"it, I though that a few RP members might find it interesting.

Do you see anything that applies to any country, if so, what and what country?

Do you see any similarities to the political situation today, if so, what are they and what can be done about them?

Are there any differences from the political situation today, if so, what can be done to strengthen them?

In my opinion, there are many (and strong) similarities between the points set out in the essay and the ISISites' "doctrine".

COL Ted Mc - I am not sure about the part about eternal vigilance ... vigilance is not overcome by fear. Just for being alert of your surrounding or the world.

So eternal vigilance doesn't mean you don't have freedom at all. For example about being vigilance in the wild about wild animal, don't make you not go out to the wild, just being alert and armed with a shotgun. :)

PO3 (Join to see) - PO; That is what I mean by "learn to juggle".

You have to have enough vigilance so that you don't lose your freedom but you can't has so much vigilance that you do lose your freedom.

COL Ted Mc - vigilance is not equal to fear :) if you replace it with fear, your statement is prefect. Vigilance is a state of mindset, fear is a different mind set. For fear, a people will blindly do nothing because of fear, vigilance is already know what is dangerous and what should be alert of, therefore they will go on with their life but have watchful eyes.

PO3 (Join to see) - PO; One starts out unthinking then becomes blissfully unknowing, proceeds through complacency to awareness and on to vigilance before one arrives at fear and finally reaching unthinking.

The wheel revolves and we can but attempt to control the speed.
