Will Marvel Movies going forward be dragged down by “Wokeism?”
(07 11 21) From Op Ed article, Michael McCaffrey :
“A clumsy dose of Russophobia combined with some force-fed pandering to the #MeToo movement are heavy crosses for Black Widow to bear. It’s a tepid venture that might keep Marvel fans happy, but won’t win any new converts.
“The fear heading into Black Widow was that it would be the wokest Marvel movie yet...Ms. Johansson made some pre-release noise about how she was uncomfortable with how her character was ‘hyper-sexualized’ in earlier movies, and also that this film was going to be Marvel’s #MeToo movie...
“Adding to that sentiment were tweets from various kiss-ass woke media outlets triumphantly declaring that the film ‘passed the Bechdel test’, which measures size and substance of female representation in a movie, and ‘puts men in their place’ and makes them ‘squeem,’ whatever the hell that means...”

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth I used to enjoy watching the Marvel movies until I heard that Captain America aka Chris Evans, who was also great in the Fantastic Four movies) and the Mark Ruffalo ( who played the Hulk) were big Leftists and Trump-haters.

Honest Truth - the film - and the way the media and critics are portraying it - are two different things. I have no idea where this culture and perception of men hating strong women comes from, especially in the sci/fi-fantasy realm of entertainment. For as long as I can remember - strong women have been a part of my entertainment. From Linda Carter in Wonder Woman, SMG in Buffy, Lindsay Wagner in the Bionic Woman, Kate Mulgrew as Captain Janeway in Star Trek Voyager, Lucy Lawless in Xena, Linda Hamilton in the Terminator films, Summer Glau and Lena Headey in the Sarah Connor Chronicles, Sigourney Weaver in the Alien franchise, Kate Beckinsale in the Underworld franchise and Mila Jovovich in the Resident Evil franchise. None needed to have cringe dialogue telling the audience they were strong women that needed no man. They just kicked fucking ass, like their male counterpart action/adventure/sci-fi counterparts.

SSG Robert Perrotto I agree w you. Empowered women were always part of the Marvel universe, DC comics and Sci-fi world, back to when I read the mags some 50+ years ago. However, thanks to the Leftists ( who also brought us Racism 2.0), there is a purposely boosted angst about defining alternate genders and roles while villianizing traditional roles.

Sgt (Join to see) - Again - Media catering to less then 5% of a population - many of whom do not purchase the product you sell. is absolutely insane.
