As an American who stands with Israel, I am overjoyed at this news, but also cautious. As Middle Eastern nations resign themselves to the inevitable, Iran must be feeling the loss of its support as the dominant power in the region and may be tempted to act precipitously. Celebrate the moment but keep your guard up...

A cautious optimism is absolutely necessary. However, on the subject of Iran, the continued destabilization of the regime in that country gives me greater hope, as nations in that region solidify lasting peaceful relations. If the regime in Iran can be overthrown, Palestinian terrorism will lose all backing and all but cease to exist, allowing for the entirety of the middle east to finally begin to move forward in a positive direction.

SGT Joseph Gunderson - ...and as we discuss these events, rockets rain down on Israel. Fired by Palestinians. Supplied by Iran.

CPT Jack Durish but that's what I mean. Iran is becoming a rat backed into a corner, and the response will be to lash out. But if the Iranian people out the regime, we can look forward to something real and permanent. Now, the question is, how can the world, more precisely the US, facilitate such a regime change without provoking the destructive beast that is Iran?
