Are you afraid of fire, not sure what to do when some one hands you a bag of charcoal? Fear not friends Steve Raichlen's Book "How to Grill" is the guide you are seeking. I got a copy some ten years ago. My grill game went from C+ to an A-. This is no ordinary cookbook, it has pictures, not a few in the middle every single one has multiple pictures. Step by step he walks you through preparing the meal, to how to set up the grill. It doesn't get much better than this. I have given at least 10 copies out to friend and relatives as gifts. Every last person has said it stepped up their game. This is the book that turn those wimpy hot dogs into Grill Hounds! Turn that dry out Hamburger into Chez Burger! Fish, no issue, Jamaican Jerked Pork, no problem! Brats? Ya my freund. How to make your own rubs, and sauces. How to make deserts on the BBQ. This is a great book for any Newb to any one who thinks they have game. Best part is, it has been out so long you can get it cheap. So get out there and tame that flame!

You will not be disappointed. I think you can get for as little $2 used now adays. Mine needs to be replaced as it is falling apart I have used it so much.
Another really good book for cooking in general is the "flavor Dictionary," not cheap but awesome book. Covers a lot of ingredients and what goes with it rated by a lot chef's advice. Say Beef : sage, pepper, onions, SALT, corn, GARLIC (capitol and bold ingredients means it is favored by more chef's so it is considered a safe bet it will work with it.)
