In one of the most dramatic upsets in Olympic history, the underdog U.S. hockey team, made up of college players, defeats the four-time defending gold-medal winning Soviet team at the XIII Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York. The Soviet squad, previously regarded as the finest in the world, fell to the youthful American team 4-3 before a frenzied crowd of 10,000 spectators. Two days later, the Americans defeated Finland 4-2 to clinch the hockey gold.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - Spec; I have to admit that that was a wonderful series.
However, what have they done for us lately?
Canada - 9 Golds
Russia - 7 Golds
US - 2 Golds (8 Silver)
Sweden - 2 Golds (3 Silver)
and 1998 was a disaster for all concerned (except for the Women's Team which won Gold).

Understood but and I say "But" I do not like what they have done to the Olympics with the ability to use the pro's now. That sucks. I know that Russia has always pro's but that made 1980 victory the best!!

On the other hand if they were to actually use the TOP professionals that might be something else again. Unfortunately the professional teams will only allow their "disposable" players to participate (and the top money players don't want to risk their pay cheques by going to the Olympics in any event).
