The other day when POTUS announced a trip to Israel in the middle of IDF combat preparations I was having coffee with some other veterans and non-veterans when these topics came up:

- Hey if HAMAS has a huge supply of rockets and Air Force 1 is on the ground and they launch say 150 of the missiles, what if the IRON Dome cannot catch them all and the plane is hit and destroyed on the ground in Israel?

- Would the Congress have the stomach and the courage to elect a Speaker NOW so that POTUS could request a Declaration of War as FDR did on 08 Dec 1941?

- Would VPOTUS Harris in the absence of a stranded or incapacitated POTUS be able to act to quickly work with Congressional leadership to respond, especially if the 25th Amendment required invoking?

- Would Defense then work immediately and closely with HLS to secure (i.e., seal) the US Borders and track down unvetted immigrants for deportation, especially if some are discovered to have Cartel or other adverse ties that could threaten the “…domestic tranquility…” to “…provide for the "...common defense…” of the USA?

- Would the Israeli PM confide in POTUS their plans to handle HAMAS (Why? or Why Not?)
These are just a few of the topics that arose. While each of us participated in this ‘lively discussion’ around these and other current topics, it was interesting to see how the media and social media were also responding. What are the thoughts of the RP family.

As always, please keep responses focused and respectfully to others willing to participate in this thread. Looking forward to understanding the pulse of the RP family on these few questions………………….

PS Located this commentary regarding "2018 Human Shield Legislation" (https://www.rallypoint.com/shared-links/biden-admin-ignores-law-to-sanction-hamas-and-hezbollah-for-civilian-shield-use-lawmakers-say). Humm! Why create legislation if it is NOT going to be acted upon. Terrorists, drug lords, criminals in general, and so "so-called - peaceful rioters" all deploy the tactic using human shields. If the law is not going to be used what difference does it make to have.

PVT Ted Rodosovich - What about Regan? Could he have the onset of dementia or Alzheimer while in office. Yes most likely, since he acknowledged he had it just a few years after leaving office. That is the problem with this disease, it often starts out with small things. It's been debated many times and will most like continue for years to come. However Regan showed no signs in public as President Biden. I just watched a news clips of him wondering off from the podium after speech, like a young child. My dad did that in the last phase of fighting this horrible disease. I will keep saying it, those who are keeping directing him are very horrible people, to do this to this man. Making him a mockery in the public and to the world.
With Dementia and Alzheimer on the rise amongst older folks and some younger, we need a safe and fair way to evaluate all are leaders, to include, congress, the Military, and any other governments agency where a person has the power to change major things, and be used by devious people for their own gain.

You are incorrect sir. VP Harris is capable of stepping in if God forbid something happened to the president. She is intelligent and capable, and I get damn tired of people dissing her and any powerful, smart women like her. Joe Biden is not in the beginning stage of dementia. i saw and talked with him when he was in Vegas a few weeks ago, and talked to the VP the week before. I had last talked to him face-to-face in 2016. The haters can think whatever they want. They don't care about the truth. I remember Reagan having Alzheimer's in the later part of his last term. Trump is losing his mind, not Joe.

Biden arrives in Israel
Oct. 18
Under the threat of rocket strikes and heightened security, President Biden arrives in Israel Wednesday morning and is greeted with an embrace by Prime Minister Netanyahu on the tarmac of Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.

During a joint appearance with Netanyahu, Biden says he is "proud to be here."

"I want to say to the people of Israel, their courage, their commitment, their bravery is stunning, it's really stunning," Biden says, vowing to supply Israel with whatever it needs to defend itself.

In response, Netanyahu says, "Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you for standing with Israel today, tomorrow and always."

At the Vatican in Rome, Pope Francis appeals for peace in the Middle East.

"Today our thoughts go to Israel and Palestine," the pope says. "Casualties are rising and the situation in Gaza is desperate. Please do everything possible to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe."

TSgt (Join to see) - Your analogy of the flash light in a dark room with many holes punched it seems like a good one, However it is a not an accurate one. 1. God stated many times in the Old Testament that we should worship no other gods but HIM. He declared worshiping of Idols, made by human hands an abomination. In fact over and over again He punished many nations, including Israel for worshiping other gods, Idols made by human hands. For all other religions that don't have Idols we then go to what Jesus said. " That He was the way the truth and the light no one can come to Father but by/Through Him. Which then makes Him out to be false and liar, our the true light. Suggest you read first Chapter of John vs 1- 14, Much in a very few vs who Jesus the Christ was. This is what separates true Christians from Jews and Muslims. Both Jews and Muslims consider it Blasphemy to to Jesus was the Son of God, and God Himself. Again John points out The true nature Jesus in those 1st 14 verse in the first chapter of John. You see though your analogy of the flash light seems like a good way to say all paths lead to God.. Well, then one of the holes are wrong and false, because if all those holes lead to God, and Jesus said " I am the way the Truth and the Light, and no one can but by Me, then either He taught a false belife, and was false Himself or the other ones are the misleading ones, and Jesus is the Truth, the Way and Light as He taught. If Jesus was not crucified, as He stated he would be then again, I and many others are following a lie. If Jesus didn't rise from the dead, as He said He would then again, I and may others are following false teaching.
I know this is a long reply, so I just want to add, that just because someone says the are Christian dosen't mean they are, and just because they do bad things in His name dosen't make Christ or His massage wrong.

The mechanism of religion in use.

One the reason then and currently book bands and why they did NOT want people to read and made legislation and laws banning reading.

“Before the 1830s there were few restrictions on teaching slaves to read and write. After the slave revolt led by Nat Turner in 1831, all slave states except Maryland, Kentucky, and Tennessee passed laws against teaching slaves to read and write.”

1.) Church and Slavery

For the majority of the early modern period, most Christian churches—both Catholic and Protestant—supported slavery and benefited from the institution. Even the Quakers (Society of Friends), who were leaders in the abolitionist movement, took a century to disown enslavers from their congregations.

In the United States, many Christian denominations split on the issue of slavery in the 19th century, and Christian ministers and missionaries developed robust defenses of slavery based on Christian scripture and proslavery theology.

Enslaved and free Black Christians were the most ardent abolitionists, and they drew on scripture to support antislavery and abolition.

While a significant amount of scholarship has debated whether Christian churches were pro- or anti-slavery, some of the most exciting research about the church and slavery has focused on why enslaved people became Christian and how they used the bureaucracy of the church to advocate for their rights and to protect their communities.

2.) The Slave Bible: Let the Story Be Told

The Slave Bible, as it would become known, is a missionary book. It was originally published in London in 1807 on behalf of the Society for the Conversion of Negro Slaves, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of enslaved Africans toiling in Britain’s lucrative Caribbean colonies.

They used the Slave Bible to teach enslaved Africans how to read while at the same time introducing them to the Christian faith.

Unlike other missionary Bibles, however, the Slave Bible contained only “select parts” of the biblical text. Its publishers deliberately removed portions of the biblical text, such as the exodus story, that could inspire hope for liberation.

Instead, the publishers emphasized portions that justified and fortified the system of slavery that was so vital to the British Empire.

This unique artifact-in-focus exhibition, The Slave Bible: Let the Story Be Told, is presented by Museum of the Bible with the cooperation of Fisk University and the Center for the Study of African American Religious Life at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

Drawing upon new research into its origins and use among enslaved Africans in the Caribbean, this exhibition tells a story of how time and place shape the way people understand and use the Bible.

3.) The Slave Bible Returns Home to Fisk University

The Slave Bible Returns Home to Fisk University

In 2018 Fisk University partnered with the Museum of the Bible, and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture for a special exhibition featuring the rare Slave Bible. There are only three known copies of the Slave Bible in existence. One copy belongs to Fisk University, and the other two are located in the United Kingdom.

The exhibition, The Slave Bible: Let the Story Be Told, opened on November 28 at the Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C and explored the Slave Bible’s role in the struggle for freedom.

Louisiana Amendment 7, Remove Involuntary Servitude as Punishment for a Crime from Constitution Measure (2022)

Louisiana Amendment 7, the Remove Involuntary Servitude as Punishment for a Crime from Constitution Measure, was on the ballot in Louisiana as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 8, 2022. The measure was defeated.

A "yes" vote supported:

•  removing language from the state constitution that allows involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime; and
• adding language to say that the section of the constitution prohibiting slavery and involuntary servitude "does not apply to the otherwise lawful administration of criminal justice."
A "no" vote opposed removing language from the state constitution that allows involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime

3.) Christian Black Codes (1724)

The Christian Black Codes of 1724 are the resulting list of 54 Christian Protocols and Acts, written to augment and institutionalize the William Lynch Theories of ‘Suppression and Control Methodologies’. These socialization tools are generally referred to as, ‘The Black Codes’.

3a.) Why Did So Many Christians Support Slavery?
Key reasons advanced by southern church leaders

Many southern Christians felt that slavery, in one Baptist minister’s words, “stands as an institution of God.” Here are some common arguments made by Christians at the time:

Biblical Reasons

• Abraham, the “father of faith,” and all the patriarchs held slaves without God’s disapproval (Gen. 21:9–10).

• Canaan, Ham’s son, was made a slave to his brothers (Gen. 9:24–27).

• The Ten Commandments mention slavery twice, showing God’s implicit acceptance of it (Ex. 20:10, 17).

3c.) The Convict Leasing System: Slavery in its Worst Aspects
June 17, 2021

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.” Article XIII, February 1,1865

While many believe that the 13th Amendment ended slavery, there was an exemption that was used to create a prison convict leasing system of involuntary servitude to fill the labor supply shortage in the southern states after the Civil War.  Black Codes regulated the lives of African Americans and justice-involved individuals were often convicted of petty crimes, like walking on the grass, vagrancy, and stealing food.

Arrests were often made by professional crime hunters who were paid for each “criminal” arrested, and apprehensions often escalated during times of increased labor needs.

Even those who were declared innocent in the courts were often placed in this system when they could not pay their court fees.

Companies and individuals paid leasing fees to state, county, and local governments in exchange for the labor of prisoners in farms, mines, lumber yards, brick yards, manufacturing facilities, factories, railroads, and road construction.

The convict leasing fees generated substantial amounts of revenue for southern state, county, and local budgets, and lasted through World War II.

We punish a man who steals a loaf, if he steals an entire railroad, we say a financier; let us ask him to dinner.” – Rev. Dr. Wayland
as quoted in The Crime of Crimes or the /convict System Unmasked (image 4)

I highly doubt this would never happen for a lot of reasons but probably the most obvious one would be "why?" They'd gain almost nothing compared to what they'd have to lose.

SSG Carlos Madden - Understood! Part of my disaster planning background emerges, because as a "disaster response planner" looking a event the "crazy scenarios" is part of just being prepared when in the thick of things. Stakes are high, but some, in my experience just seem not care.

It is "...seem not cares..." that when such happens people are suppressed about and continue to ask "Why?" time after time after time when things repeat. During the Yom Kippur War of 1973 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yom_Kippur_War), Jews did not think they would be attacked during the High Holidays, but they were. That changed strategic thinking and response planning for MANY years.

I was just 2 years from joining the Navy at that time and remember it well!

History is cruel teacher, and when ignored its cruelness is often exponential. Just saying.....
