I wonder if they will try to recover it? Unfortunately the article doesn't mention that.

Interesting find. If the sub hull is salvageable, then EOD will have to decommission any torpedoes onboard. If human remains are discovered, they will be recovered, run through attempted DNA identification procedures or (if the sub is identified and a crew list exists) the crew identified and relatives notified. Since the German Embassy has been notified, I would imagine that any human remains will be repatriated to Germany where they will be interred with military honors. As to the sub hull, if it can be salvaged and brought up, the preservation process will be similar to what was used on CSS Hunley - only on a much larger scale.

If it's in good shape they could probably use it for a display someplace.
