Sgt Tom Cunnally - He deserted during a time of war. Unless things have changed since I was in, that carries the possibility of a death sentence. I don't think that the Army will actually push for it, but it is there.

Conversely, we released five prisoners from Guantanamo Bay to get this asshat back. Now, if convicted, we could incarcerate him for the rest of his life. Why did we bother?

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Here's what I think happened...Obama wants to close Gitmo as you know so he got an opportunity to swap 5 Islamic Terrorist Leaders for Bergdahl who had been in a Taliban prison for five years. He got bad advice from Susan Rice who said Bergdahl had served with honor and distinction and so Obama had Bergdahl family in the Rose Garden for another photo op. I think Bergdahl's father is from another planet btw ... What a f*****g Farce...The Army knew Bergdahl was a deserter but the White House didn't want to hear that and the State Dept spokesperson tried to discredit Bergdahl's Army buds who said he was a POS and went AWOL ..
Now the Army in old Fort Sam Houston in Texas has this case to deal with and they also have a political mess because the bleeding heart liberals all think Bergdahl has suffered enough...One even blasted me and asked if he is a deserter then why did he make Sergeant? I don't answer dumb questions in case you are wondering..

Sgt Tom Cunnally - It makes sense. It pisses me off that those who are serving are discredited because it doesn't fit with the politics. For the sake of the Army, I sincerely hope that they close the base when they try him. The army is in a no win situation. If Bergdahl is acquitted, then it sends a message that the military, and Army specifically, is willing to forgive and forget because of political pressure. This is a slippery slope to the loss of discipline that cannot happen. On the other hand if they throw the book at him, send him to jail for the rest of his life or death then they open themselves up to retribution from the politicians. Politicians who control the purse strings. So like I said, no win situation.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - I think Death is off the table per his Attorney Eugene Fidell who is a real heavyweight defender of Army clients. Probably the best of the best from what I read about him
