In the context of Medicare, "negotiation" of drug prices means here is an arbitrary number the government will pay, take it or leave it.
The net effect is that some doctors will simply refuse medicare, and others will just charge everybody else more.

SSgt William Quinn - 1. I don't care what "most others" get, I am concerned about our folks.
2. Mick Jagger is far from being poor, so that is irrelevant. Besides I did not claim we have poor health care. I just said that great care should be available to everyone.
3. I thought this was a free country. If so, everyone has the right to believe as they wish and NONE ARE ENEMIES OF THIS COUNTRY just because they believe everyone should have good health care.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Viva United Socialist States of America, right????

Healthcare is not a federal right, Not one of the 18 Enumerated powers, except for raising and supporting a military, gives any authority, none. Its a personal responsibility issue. Not a right and your health is not my responsibility as mine is not yours.

Jagger came to the USA for the best treatment, not subpar UK government healthcare with astronomical wait times.

Free to like communism an socialism all you want. Engels and Marx formed those ideals out of their hate for what they saw in the USA. The antithesis of America. That allegiance and ideology is the enemy of the US.

SSgt William Quinn - Here we go again. First, check ypour history. When Engels formed his ideas, the US was still a floundering, young nation. And:
"Engels developed what is now known as Marxist theory together with Karl Marx and in 1845 he published The Condition of the Working Class in England, based on personal observations and research in English cities"

Second, our Constitution promises to "promote the general Welfare" of our people. That should include health.

Third, do you propose people should just die in the streets? I doubt that.

Now, there is not one justifiable reason that anyone should suffer from health problems in as rich nation as we have.

Finally, we tried unfettered capitalism in the late 19th century, and again in the early 20th. We saw the disaster this caused. Today, 1% control over 80% of the wealth in this nation. When we have people dying because they cannot affode medications, that is intolerable. Call it socialism, call it whatever you want, but people will not tolerate is long. We are seeing some of the effects today.

1, Thatt was not their only publication and they clearly stated they wanted to create the opposite of a free market republic, as they hated it.

2.General welfare clause has been debunked: According to James Madison, the clause authorized Congress to spend money, but only to carry out the powers and duties specifically enumerated in the subsequent clauses of Article I, Section 8, and elsewhere in the Constitution, not to meet the seemingly infinite needs of the general welfare.

and

In United States v. Butler, 56 S. Ct. 312, 297 U.S. 1, 80 L. Ed. 477 (1936), the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated a federal agricultural spending program because a specific congressional power over agricultural production appeared nowhere in the Constitution. According to the Court in Butler, the spending program invaded a right reserved to the states by the Tenth Amendment.

3. No, I propose you take care of yourself. Personal responsibility.

I get it, radical change disguised of hate of America. Unfettered brought about the industrial revolution and the greatest wealth increase in the modern world. Henry Ford increased wages on his own to stabilize his workforce and provide opportunity. Vanderbilt sent dirt poor share croppers to Germany to learn on the Mercedes factories on how to work on cars and obtain skilled labor. So many examples of the greatness of capitalism.

A consequence is drug makers will now out of expensive and highly regulated R&D when they are assuming all the risk and then the government sets the price on the back end.
