Milne came back very injured from the war. What he wrote I think was a partial attempt to deal with some of his issues. If those characters helped him do so or to reconnect with his family, I think it is all to the good. Psychoanalyzing fictional characters is fun but not especially useful, imo PO3 Phyllis Maynard

Lt Col Charlie Brown exactly so, Milne came back very injured and unable to express emotions. So his journey took him down the path to create these characters with these personalities. Marilyn Debora was a guest on Warriors for Life and she did a two part series on this. And of course, this was not presented as a diagnostic tool. But the correlation of each character's personality was pointed out as an example of a mental condition.
