Who is the one person you would love to meet that impacted your career the most?

For me, it would have to be my first squad leader when I reported to my first unit at Ft. Drum, SGT Marlon Scarbro. He was an RTO with the 82nd Airborne who was in Grenada back in 1983. He reclassified as a 35R and became my squad leader. I had learned a lot from this NCO. He was a no BS type of NCO. I may offend some of the folks who served in the 82nd, but he was not arrogant like the majority of the maroon berets wearers that I had seen later on. He was very down to earth. He helped me with my board preparations and he was there when I had returned from Desert Storm and needed a place to crash and unwind over the weekend before I reported back to my original unit.

He left the Army afterwards- medically discharged due to an eye injury. The last time I saw him was back in 1993 when he was a civilian and I was reclassifying into a different MOS. He got involved with the Jehovah Witness and lost contact from him ever since. Sadly, I believed that he had passed away recently, so meeting him again would only occur in the Afterlife, whatever that may be.
