How hard is 35L MOS school? What should I be expecting during this school phase?

Hello. I’m interested in 35L and got some good information here from other people about the daily life of a 35L. Can anyone in here give me information on how hard 35L school is? What should I be expecting during this school phase? I’m really interested in this MOS because of the different paths that it can provide. I’m not the best at writing essays so I don’t if that’s going to be a issue or not. Any information about 35L school would be greatly appreciate. Thank you!

Be prepared to be on hold once you get there for 1-3 months if you are enlisting for the first time. Hopefully by that time they’ve got it sorted out where IET has permanent slots. In the three classes I saw start while I was at huachuca they start off with 40-60 in a class and lose about 20 throughout the cycle. Some fail out and some are NG that just went for the clearance, dropped the course and went back home to work a Dod Intel related job. Other than this, my friends who made it through the course said it was definitely challenging but as long as you pay attention and do what you came there to do then you can make it through. Also, like someone else said already, report writing has nothing to do with English or everyday writing...

Be prepared for NO-GOs. You will type more than you ever have. It’s like learning a new language, match the style of that language and you are good to go. Don’t argue with the cadre about the writing style, even if you have a degree in English it’s a different writing style. Don’t make things up, it’s not fictional writing. Pay attention to the instructors and ask questions. Don’t let others distract you from your assignments. It’s not an easy course, but if you are committed you will make it to graduation.

Everything closely aligns with AR 25-50. But the style depends on the purpose of your report. It may be a legal document, or an intelligence report that all of the intelligence community can read. There is some redundancy where someone should edit what you write, but it’s important to be as accurate as possible the first time around. Don’t fear it, not everyone can write error free. Just have a good understanding of the different formats and styles of what you are writing. These styles aren’t always interchangeable. SGT S Scott

What do you mean by NO-GOs? Also when it comes to report writing, am I expected to type 10+ pages?

A NO-GO is a failure and you usually get another chance after retraining. You will write long reports. It’s not creative writing, you will have all the information from your activities to write. John Kwon

I've heard a lot of 'scary' stuff about this course, but that's just my personal opinion. Training can be tough, but it's achievable. Expect up to 3 months of waiting for a spot in the IET program. The course involves a lot of typing, intelligence-style reports, and studying real espionage cases. There are no preparation textbooks, but there are online resources. You can also seek advice . Personally, any school is tough for me because I struggle with humanities, report writing, and all sorts of documents, so I often had to rely on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki and other sources https://essays.edubirdie.com/assignment-writing-service to save time on elaborating on what interests me. Remember, be prepared for hard work, but don't give up. You've got this.
